In my opinion I just think its an excuse there to keep the skeletons in Underworld for a little bit longer so they can think of ANOTHER way to permanently keep skeletons without screwing up anything else.
Because if you cant do the quest, then they wont go away amirite? |

I've tried doing UW in NM with a me and my gf, using various discorders, sabs, raceways, our own builds and the skeles that patrol aren't a problem, it's the stupid RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing missions that require you to protect the reaper or another npc from two directions, or a spawn or 20-30 nuker spiders....With skeleton that spawn when you pick up the quests.
Checking wiki doesn't help, it doesn't even mention skeletons actually spawning in when picking up the quests, running over to the npc(s) and killing them. We managed fourhorsemen once, by bring a perma hero and flagging him on one side, way to go, good mission design. Failed on servents of grenth, due to skele spawning outside of aggro and running off to kill the spacky npc. |

My pet theory: Dhuum needs more deaths in the UW to become strong enough to bust out. In other words, as soon as a new UWSC becomes prevalent (eg. the rate of end chest opening exceeds a certain value)... then we will see a new nerf (Dhuum), and the end of the quest :-D :-D

Realistically, Anet is probably evaluating how people are farming/clearing the underworld so that they only need to do one more update. I think if they find that speed clears have dropped significantly enough, and normal playing and basic farming is still viable, they'll release the end of the quest without any major changes. But if the skeletons haven't sufficiently nerfed the speed clears, they'll probably add a few more changes to the end quest before releasing it.

Maybe this is the endquest to stop Dhuum, we will destroy ourselves and the story of GW1 ends here. To keep him in chains, we must give up our lives. Thus is how it ends for GW1.
GW2 starts with our legacy in the form of decendants etc. So we can't complete this quest, till GW2 is in the final stages of development or something like that. I also like the theory that they are waiting till some new UWSC becomes the meta of the game and lots of things start dying again in UW. Then Anet does the ultimate nerf in the form of Dhuum, a former god with the powers of a Base Defender. A.k.a. unable to clear UW at all. Or we have to wait untill Christmas and Grenth appears in the real world, and therefor weakening his grip in the UW. |
